Kong Wei Yang: The boy who can't stop hurting himself

Wei Yang is diagnosed with Lesch-Nyhan syndrome, a rare disease that affects roughly one in 380,000 people and occurs almost exclusively in boys. It prevents the body from recycling purines, leading to excess uric acid, neurological impairment, uncontrollable muscle contractions, and compulsive self-injurious behaviour

Three siblings, orphaned and already invisible to the state, need a future — not just charity

This is not simply a case of financial poverty. Three siblings have just lost their mother — growing up stateless, without ID, housing, or education. With coordinated support, they can finally gain what they've never had: security, identity, and a future.

"Orphan Diseases," commonly known as rare diseases, are medical conditions affecting a small percentage of people

Majority of these diseases have been unstudied for years, hence the term "orphan," reflecting diseases abandoned from treatment & holistic care
