INCOME GENERATION PROGRAMME
BLACK SOLDIER FLY FARMING
Urban households in Malaysia generate tonnes of food waste daily.
In PPR communities, this waste is an untapped opportunity.
The BSF HomeGrower Programme, led by Suriana, converts household food waste into a sustainable, community-based income model through Black Soldier Fly farming.
With corporate support, Suriana builds the system, delivers training and quality control, manages aggregation, and transfers ownership to the community.
Households use safe, space-efficient units to turn daily waste into valuable protein resources that are collected and monetised.
Donor funding enables transparent operations, measurable impact, cleaner cities, and stable supplementary income; advancing circular economy and ESG goals.
Together, we can turn waste into lasting value.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
Households in dense PPR communities face both unstable income and daily waste management pressure
High-density PPR communities generate large amounts of organic waste
Shared waste systems create on-going pressure on hygiene and waste management
Organic waste often remains a burden instead of being turned into value
