Help Parameswary Rebuild Her Family

Parameswary and her family are facing an incredibly difficult chapter in their lives. Both she and her husband live with disabilities, and in recent months, their family has been overwhelmed by a series of medical emergencies that have left them struggling to make ends meet.

Her husband, Kesavan, is a registered person with disabilities (OKU) who has impaired vision and hearing on his right side and suffers from recurring seizures. For many years, he worked tirelessly as an idiyappam vendor, earning an honest living to provide for his family.

Tragically, during one of his seizures, Kesavan was carrying a pot of boiling water from the stove when he collapsed, causing the scalding water to spill over his body. He sustained severe burn injuries and is currently receiving ongoing treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) and University Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM). The accident has also left him unable to walk, forcing him to stop working and leaving the family without their primary source of income.

Parameswary herself is also a registered person with disabilities (OKU). She suffers from a serious muscle injury in her leg and has been receiving treatment at HKL. On 20 August 2026, she is scheduled to undergo surgery at PPUM to improve blood circulation in her leg, offering hope that she may regain her mobility and independence.

Despite her own health challenges, Parameswary remains determined to rebuild her family's future. She is making preparations to restart the family's idiyappam business once her husband's condition stabilises and she has recovered from surgery. However, it will take several months before the business can generate income again.

In the meantime, the family is struggling with everyday expenses. Parameswary currently uses the RM450 monthly welfare assistance from Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) entirely to pay their house rent. She has also sought assistance from Suriana Welfare Society Malaysia to help cover her daughter's essential education expenses, including RM140 per month for school transportation and RM200 per month for tuition, so that her daughter can continue her education despite the family's financial hardship.

Parameswary's surgery will cost RM10,780. While JKM has generously approved RM5,000 towards the procedure, there remains an outstanding balance of RM5,780 that the family is unable to afford.
